Derk calls on Carney to return Rangel’s Contributions

SELINSGROVE, PA – Tonight, 10th District Congressional Candidate Malcolm Derk called on Chris Carney to return $21,000 in campaign contributions that he has received from Charles Rangel.

Rangel, Chairman of the influential tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, was recently admonished by the House Ethics Committee for participating in corporate-funded trips to the Caribbean. According to the Politico newspaper, the House Ethics Committee is continuing to investigate Rangel over his use of a New York City rent-controlled apartment and allegations that he raised money for a research center using taxpayer funded official Congressional stationary. Derk for Congress Launches Moneybomb on the Anniversary of the $787 Billion Stimulus Vote

SELINSGROVE, PA – Derk for Congress is launching a 72 hour Moneybomb over President’s Day Weekend to coincide with the one year anniversary of the $787 billion stimulus vote. Malcolm Derk strongly opposes this type of reckless spending and is giving voters an opportunity to show how they feel about it.  Derk is the only candidate who has experience balancing government budgets without raising taxes and has voted against corporate bailouts.

Carney Inconsistent with Debt Limit Vote

SELINSGROVE, PA – On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed House Resolution 1065, which would raise the federal debt limit by $1.9 trillion dollars.  This measure would increase the overall debt of the United States to approximately $14.3 trillion. While Chris Carney voted against this legislation, the resolution passed by a vote of 217-212.
